August 15th, 2008 - NW Star Academy wins Senior Babe Ruth World Series NW Star Academy defeated Modesto, CA 6-4 in the championship game to win their first Senior Babe Ruth World Series title. Alex Keudell got the start going 4+ innings and Mitchell Lambson went 3+ to pick up the victory. Matt Stutes had 3 hits in the game including a triple. Ryan Gorton had a double. More information will follow regarding all tournament offensive and defensive teams. August 14th, 2008 - NW Star defeats Indiana 13-0 to earn place in championship game NW Star Academy is one win away from winning the Senior Babe Ruth World Series after they defeated Indiana 13-0 in the semi-finals. Mitchell Lambson picked up the win on the mound going 5 strong innings. Matt Stutes hit the first pitch of the game over the outfield fence for a solo homerun and that jump started the offense. 9 players combined for 13 hits. Corey Davis had 4 RBI and Kevin Taylor had 2 hits. The championship game will feature NW Star Academy and Modesto, California. Game time is 7:00pm and live game coverage can be found at http://froghead.net/newarkbaberuth/livestats/xlive.htm August 11th, 2008 - NW Star secures #1 birth out of National League Pool, gain bye into semi-finals NW Star Academy completed pool play 4-0 by defeating Cape Cod, MA 13-3. Ryan Gorton had 2 - 2 RBI singles and Andrew Barrier hit a 2 run home run. Cameron Love was the winning pitcher going 3 strong innings before giving way to Nick Struck and Corey Davis. The team wins the National League pool and receives an automatic bye into the semi-finals. That game will be played on Thursday at 7:30pm. August 10th, 2008 - NW Star wins 13-2 over Calgary Derek Johnson went 5 innings on the mound and Matt Stutes hit a solo homerun as NW Star beat Calgary 13-2 to improve to 3-0 at the Senior Babe Ruth World Series. The team plays Cape Cod on Monday at 5:00pm Eastern. If they win, they secure the #1 seed out of their pool and a bye into the semi-finals which will be played on Thursday. August 9th, 2008 - Alex Keudell throws 1 hit shutout as NW Star improves to 2-0 Alex Keudell threw a complete game, 1 hit shutout as NW Star Academy defeated Hammon, Indiana 1-0. Keudell was perfect through 5 2/3 innings. Kevin Taylor had an RBI single to drive in the only run of the game. The win improves the Academy to 2-0 in pool play. They play Calgary on Sunday at 5:00pm. August 8th, 2008 - NW Star Opens World Series with 10-0 win over Louisianna Corey Davis provided the offense and Mitchell Lambson continued his strong pitching as NW Star Academy defeated Louisianna 10-0 to open the Senior Babe Ruth World Series. Corey Davis was 2-3 with 2 - 2 run HRs. Mitchell Lambson went all 5 innings giving up 0 runs and only 3 hits. They defeated the Spokane Dodgers 7-2 in the first game and the NW Krush 15-5 in the second game. On Wednesday, they lost both games. In the first game, they lost 12-6 to Bellevue Honda. In the second game, they lost 7-6 Chaffey. They finish pool play with Rips Brewers at 3:45pm on Friday. NW Star Academy is your 2008 Pacific NW Senior Babe Ruth Regional Champions. They defeated Port Angeles 10-3 in the semi-finals and Kitsap 4-3 in the championship. In the semi-final game against Port Angeles, Nick Struck went the distance giving up 3 runs on 2 hits. He struck out 7 batters. Ryan Gorton went 3/4 with 3 RBI. Gorton earned game MVP honors. Andrew Woolfe was 3/3 with 3 RBI and 2 runs scored. In the championship game, Mitchell Lambson picked up the win in relief going 3 innings, striking out 3, and giving up 0 runs. Lambson's performance was remarkable and inspiring as the team came back from a 3-0 deficent in the 5th inning by scoring all 4 runs in the 6th innings. Gorton started it off with an infield single and by the time Matt Stutes scored on a wild pitch, the score was 4-3.

July 25, 2008 - NW Star wins 19-2 over Idaho Babe Ruth, 6-0 over Kitsap Another solid day for NW Star Academy 18U as they swept their split doubleheader today. They won the first game 19-2 over Idaho Babe Ruth. Cameron Love and Issaiah Ferrer combined to limit Idaho BR to 2 runs and the offense exploded scoring 19 runs in a 19-2 win over Idaho. Ty Morrison was 3/4 with 2 runs and 2 RBI. Love was 3/4 with 3 Runs and 2 RBI and Charlie Sauer 2/3 with 4 RBI. In game 2, they defeated the host team Kitsap 6-0 behind strong pitching from starter Corey Davis who went 5 innings and Alex Keudell who pitched the final 2 innings. Matt Stutes was 2/3, 1 Run. Ryan Gorton was 2/3 with 1 Run, and Marshall Yanzick had a single and 1 RBI. The team finishes pool play 4-0 and takes the #1 seed out of the American Division. They have a bye on Saturday. Next game will be in the semi-finals on Sunday morning at 11:00am against the National Division #2 seed. If they win that game, the regional championship game will be played at 5:00pm. July 24, 2008 - NW Star wins 9-0 over Lower Columbia Babe Ruth Mitchell Lambson and Nick Struck combined shutout the Lower Columbia Babe Ruth team 9-0 in the second day of the regional tournament. Lambson gave up 1 hit in 6 innings and striking ou t 7. Ty Morrison had 3 hits, Corey Davis had 2 hits. Kevin Taylor had 2 RBI and a triple. Next game is Friday at 9:00am against Idaho Babe Ruth. July 23, 2008 - NW Star Opens Up Regionals with 15-2 Win Strong pitching from Derek Johnson and a strong offensive game from Ty Morrison helped NW Star Academy defeat Crater Lake Babe Ruth 15-2 in the first pool play game at the Senior Babe Ruth Regional tournament in Bremerton, WA. Derek pitched 5 innings giving up only 2 hits. Ty had 2 hits including a home run and totaled 4 RBI. Ryan Gorton was 3/4 with 2 stolen bases, Kevin Taylor was 3/3, and Nick Struck was 2/3 with 1 stolen base. Next game: July 24th at 11:30am against Lower Columbia Babe Ruth - the Southern Washington #2 representative. Hotel phone number is 360-479-2909 July 17, 2008 - NW Star Claims North Oregon Senior Babe Ruth State Championship NW Star Academy went 4-0 to win the North Oregon Senior Babe Ruth State Championship. They defeated Tigard-Tualatin Black 14-0 in the championship game. Regionals are up next in Silverdale, WA. Tournament begins on Wednesday July 23rd. Be sure and check the website as we will be updating it daily with scores and recaps for those of you who cannot attend. July 6, 2008 - NW Star wins Curt Daniels Invitational Tournament
NW Star 18U won its second tournament of the year winning the 4th annual Curt Daniels Invitational held at University of Portland. The team went 5-1 in the tournament. They defeated 2 time defending champions Taylor Baseball in the semi-final game by a score of 2-0. Nick Struck got the win going 6 + innings and Mitchell Lambson picked up the save. . In the championship, Alex Keudell went the distance and Kevin Taylor led the offensive charge as they defeated the Federal Way Buzz 5-2. Mitchell Lambson # 14 was named tournament defensive MVP and Kevin Taylor #21 was named tournament offensive MVP. June 10, 2008 - Congratulations to Ty Morrison and Matt Lokken who have been selected in the 2008 MLB First Year Player Draft Ty Morrison was the selected with the first pick of the 4th round - #113 overall - and Matt Lokken was selected in the 34th round - #1018 overall. Ty has yet to sign a professional contract, but has a committment to the University of Oregon. Matt had signed to play at Lower Columbia College, but signed with the Marlins and reported to Florida today. Congratulations to both players and best of luck in your professional careers.
June 10, 2008 - NW Star Academy Alumni Selected in 2008 Draft NW Star Academy alumni Brooks Lindsley was selected in the 18th round - #537 overall - in the 2008 MLB first year player draft. Brooks was a part of the 2006 NW Star Academy 19U team. He pitched and played shortstop for the ballclub. June 8, 2008 - NW Star completes 3 game sweep of Triple Play NW Star Academy won 8-0 and 11-3 to compete a 3 game series sweep of the visiting Triple Play Hornets. The sweep improves the teams record to 10-1 and 6-0 in league. Mitchell Lambson was dominant in game 1, going 7 innings giving up 3 hits and striking out 11. In game 2, Kylin Turnbull got the win and was assisted by Corey Davis and Craig Mooney in relief. June 7, 2008 - 10th inning single by Kevin Taylor propels team to 3-2 victory over Triple Play Kevin Taylor hit a 2 out single up the middle and Ty Morrison scored from second base in the 10th inning as NW Star Academy defeated Triple Play 3-2 in 10 inning. Nick Struck, Corey Davis, and Alex Keudell all got their first appearances of the season on the mound with Keudell picking up the win. Struck went 6 strong innings. June 1, 2008 - Doubleheader sweep over WA Wave puts record at 5-1 On a cool and wet day, NW Star was able to defeat the Washington Wave twice to earn a doubleheader sweep. In game 1, Mitchell Lambson threw a complete game, 7 K, 2 hit performance enroute to a 1-0 victory. Nick Struck hit a single in the fifth with 2 outs, then Charlie Sauer comes up and lays down a 2 out rbi drag bunt hit with runners on 3rd and 1st. In game 2, Kylin Turnbull goes 5 1/3 innings, 10 K, 3 hits to pick up the victory with Derek Johnson going the final 1 2/3 for the save. Andrew Barrier with a 2 out 3 run homerun. Kevin Taylor had an rbi double. Mitchell Lambson had a single and a stolen base. May 31, 2008 - NW Star splits with Longview Red Lion to become 3-1 overall May 31, 2008 - Congratulations to Clackamas HS on 6A state championship NW Star Academy had 6 players in the state 6A championship game this past Saturday. Clackamas, led by pitcher of the year Nick Struck and catcher Corey Davis, defeated Tigard, led by Gatorade Player of the Year Ryan Gorton, outfielder Ty Morrison, and infielders Isaiah Ferrer and Andrew Woolfe, by a score of 3-1 in front of over 5,000 fans at Salem-Keizer Volcanoe Stadium. January 6, 2008 - Matt Lokken hits 3 During International High School Power Showcase Matt Lokken represented the state of Oregon in the International High School Power Showcase Home Run Derby on January 5th at Tropicana Field in Florida. Matt hit 3 homeruns during the competition. December 11, 2007 - Matt Lokken Selected to Participate in the International High School Power Showcase Home Run Derby in Tampa, FL. Matt Lokken has been selected from the state of Oregon to participate in the International HS Home Run Derby on January 5th. The event will take place at Tropicana Field in Tampa, Florida. One player from every state and 3 international players will compete in this home run derby. For more information on this event, visit www.powershowcase.us. December 7, 2007 - Winter Workout Times Attention players, we will be opening up the facility for winter workouts on Wednesdays from 4:00-5:00ishpm for all players. We will do some throwing, fielding, hitting, and speed and agility work. It is important that all players attend these workouts and it is a great opportunity to get ready for the spring season while getting to know your summer teammates better. November 16, 2007 - NW Star Academy 2008 players have begun signing letters of intent for college baseball. Members of the 2008 NW Star Academy team have begun making their decision for where they will be playing college baseball. The signing period has just begun so please let us know when you have signed. Players signed so far include: Ryan Gorton - Oregon State University Congratulations to those players and we will post all signings as they happen. November 1, 2007 - Ryan Gorton named to the Baseball America top 100 prospects list. Ryan Gorton was named #93 on the 2008 Baseball America top 100 high school prospect list. Ryan is the only Northwest player to be named on the list in 2008. He has signed on to play at Oregon State University in 2009. Congratulations Ryan!
