The 2012 NWBC convention again proved to be a huge success at the Embassy Suites PDX. Over 400 attended the regular Friday-Sunday sessions and another 200 attended the special Sunday afternoon Youth volunteer coach session highlighted by 5-Time Oregon HS State Champion Dave Gasser.

The NWBC featured Bruce Brown, Pro-Active Coaching and nationally known presenter whose topics included: “Life Lessons for Athletes and Coaches” and “Power of your word”.
Other presentations and speakers included Shawn Humberger from College of Idaho, Zane Kelly from Athletes in Motion, Mark Yoshinio, the highly successful and 2011 NWAAC champion Bellevue College program. Tucker Brack, from the University of Portland, who made his debut as a guest speaker at the NWBC and spoke on Small Ball “Scoring runs with no punch”.

Jim Parque, former All-American pitcher from UCLA and Major League Pitcher who is President of Big-League Edge in Auburn, Washington, spoke on the Off -Speed Euphoria.
Donny Harrel, Head Coach at Seattle University, always well received by those in attendance spoke on the Pitcher/Catcher relationship in setting up the game plan.

Pat Bailey, from OSU, who returns each year, demonstrates during his presentations which cover a multitude of topics on what it takes to be successful and this year discussed offensive skills essential for each hitter to be successful.  Donnie Marbut, the highly successful and well respected Head coach from WSU, shared with those in attendance the keys on utilizing your staff in meeting the needs of all athletes in your program. First time presenters traveling the greatest distance this year included Garye Lafevers, President of the Arizona Baseball Coaches Association and Steve Foster, coach with the Kansas City Royals who also shared an important message on “Pitching is more than mechanics” and also was the featured guest speaker at the annual FCA breakfast on Sunday morning.

The NWBC grows each year and has established itself to be the marquee event to celebrate and prepare coaches and all Baseball enthusiasts for the coming year.

Plan now to attend the 2013 event, which again will be held at the Embassy Suites PDX from January 11-13, 2013.
