
Bill Allen graduated from North Eugene High School where he was a two time all-state player. He went on to earn his degree from Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon. At Lewis & Clark, Allen was a four-year starter for the Pioneers on the mound and at first base.
Allen continued his baseball education while playing two seasons of semi-professional baseball;
one season with the Bend Elks and one season with the Gresham Kings.
After beginning his career in the business world, Allen recently earned his Masters in Teaching from
Concordia University in Portland, Oregon. He resides in Portland with his wife Katie and daughter Alivia.
Bill is in his third season with NW Star Academy. He is the American Legion Head Coach.


John Spooner is in his third year with NW Star. He is Head Coach of the 14U Independent Team.
John graduated from Cleveland High School in 2004. In his senior year there he was a starter on the team that won the first league title at Cleveland in 25 years. He continued his education and playing career at College of the Siskiyous in California before finishing up at Concordia University in Portland. He received a BA in Business Administration with a minor in Marketing.



Chris Dutton played for Coach Gatto from 1985 – 1987 and still holds the single season HR record at Lewis and Clark. He played professionally in Newcastle, Australia and Rotterdam, Holland. He also played in Perth, Western Australia and was voted Fairest and Best. He holds the record for most HR's at the Ryde Eastwood Baseball Club in Sydney. His best moment on the field was hitting 3 hr's in game one of the Sydney Major League Grand Finals in 2000. He has been a hitting instructor for 10 years and was the hitting coach for the Manly Sea Eagles and Ryde Eastwood Hawks in Sydney. In addition, he was the head coach for the Greenway Giants in Sydney.
Chris resides in Portland and works for Maletis Beverage.
Justin Baughman is a former professional infielder of nine years with the Angels and White Sox organizations. Drafted as a shortstop in the fifth round out of Lewis & Clark College (Portland) in 1995, he reached the Major Leagues with the Angels in 1998, breaking in as a second baseman. Following Baughman’s playing career he served as a hitting coach in the Angels organization for two seasons before returning to Lewis & Clark College as head baseball coach from 2006 – 2009. Currently Baughman is going into his second year as the northwest area scout for the San Diego Padres.
He will bring his experience and knowledge in camp and small group instruction.

Originally from San Diego, CA where he lettered on varsity as a sophomore in high school starting at catcher for 3 consecutive seasons while leading them to 3 consecutive league titles. Won defensive player of the year all 3 years, won team mvp and offensive player of the year as a senior. Was also recognized as a first team all league and league player of the year as well as 1st league all city. Academic 1st team all city as well all 3 years. Continued collegiately at San Diego Mesa College for 2 years before transferring to Concordia University on a athletic/academic scholarship where he started at catcher for the Cavaliers for 2 years. Chris is just starting his career in coaching. Was an assistant coach for the NW Star 14U summer team and is now the head coach of the 15U apple cup team.
